I am Suranga Lakmal born in Hambantota, Sri Lanka and my cricket journey began at Debarawewa Central College where my passion for the sport ignited and my talent was spotted. As I progressed to Richmond College, Galle my skills were polished and I could walk into the domestic cricket world by joining Tamil Union. I was able to represent my country in International Cricket by blazing into the ODI, Test and T2o arenas by debuting in 2009, 2010 and 2011 respectively.
My talent, coupled with my determination, led me to the captaincy of Sri Lanka’s Test Team becoming the 16th player to hold the position. I was a part of the Sri Lankan team at the 2014 T20 Championship and we were able to take the trophy to our motherland. I am proud to declare that I am the first cricketer from the Hambantota District to represent the national team of Sri Lanka.
